The present study aimed to evaluate the clinical and hematological efficacy, the occurrence of side effects, and the antimicrobial susceptibility of three pharmacological treatments in dogs diagnosed with Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex (CIRDC). A total of 21 dogs were distributed into three experimental groups (n=7), receiving the following treatments: T1 (Penicillin + Meloxicam), T2 (Amoxicillin–clavulanic acid + Meloxicam), and T3 (Doxycycline + Meloxicam). Clinical variables, hematological parameters (lymphocytes, neutrophils, hematocrit, and hemoglobin), and signs associated with adverse effects were evaluated over a 10-day period. The results demonstrated a better clinical and hematological response in T2 and T3, characterized by a progressive decrease in lymphocytes and neutrophils, as well as an increase in hematocrit and hemoglobin values. Statistical analysis using ANOVA revealed significant differences among treatments on days 5 and 10 for lymphocytes, neutrophils, and hemoglobin (p<0.05), while hematocrit showed significant differences on day 10. Tukey’s multiple comparison test identified T2 as the treatment with the best therapeutic response. No significant adverse effects were observed in any treatment group. Regarding the antimicrobial susceptibility of Bordetella bronchiseptica, greater sensitivity to amoxicillin–clavulanic acid and doxycycline was observed, whereas penicillin showed high resistance levels. It is concluded that T2 and T3 represent more effective therapeutic alternatives for the clinical management of CIRDC in dogs.
