Psychomotor skills in childhood are a fundamental pillar for children's holistic development.
In this context, children's yoga is presented as an innovative pedagogical strategy that,
through exercises, breathing techniques, and play-based activities, significantly promotes
the strengthening of balance, coordination, body control, and emotional regulation from
childhood. From this perspective, the research project entitled "Children's Yoga in the
Development of Psychomotor Skills in 3- to 4-YearOld Children at the 'Verbo Divino'
Educational Unit, Guaranda Canton, Bolívar Province, 2026" was developed to examine the
influence of children's yoga on the psychomotor development of children at this educational
level. The research is based on a qualitative approach, with a descriptive, field-based, and
non-experimental design, facilitating the understanding and interpretation of experiences,
behaviors, and characteristics observed in the children's daily environment. For data
collection, an observation sheet was used for the children, and a semi-structured interview
guide was used for the teacher, allowing access to detailed information about the
psychomotor limitations identified in the group of children. The results showed that most of
the children presented a low level of psychomotor development, reflected especially in
difficulties related to balance, coordination, postural control, muscle tension regulation, and
breathing control. Difficulties were also identified in identifying body parts and the ability to
stand on one foot without losing balance. During the interview, the teacher expressed a
positive opinion of children's yoga, highlighting that this practice is beneficial for children
with hyperactivity or difficulties regulating their emotions and behavior. Based on the
results obtained, a children's yoga manual was designed as a proposal, consisting of
exercises, postures, and narrative sessions, and incorporating musical elements adapted to
the children's age.
