| dc.description | This research analyzes the relationship between Occupational Health and Safety and occupational accidents in the Fire Department of the Guaranda canton during the year 2025. The study arises due to the constant exposure of operational personnel to physical, chemical, biological and ergonomic risks during emergency care, which increases the probability of suffering occupational accidents that affect their physical integrity and institutional performance. The main objective was to determine how safety conditions and compliance with regulations influence the occurrence of occupational accidents within the institution. The study used a mixed, descriptive and correlational approach, using structured surveys administered to the operational personnel of the Guaranda Fire Department. The results revealed deficiencies in training, supervision, application of safety protocols and the proper use of personal protective equipment, all of which increase the risk of occupational accidents. It was also identified that the most frequent accidents involve falls, blows, burns and physical overexertion, which includes studies that there is a direct link between compliance with occupational safety and health and occupational accidents, underlining the need to improve preventive strategies, promote the working conditions of firefighters. The research also aims to provide more relevant information to improve working conditions and promote a safety culture dedicated to the comprehensive protection of fire brigade personnel. | |
| dc.description.abstract | La presente investigación analiza la relación entre la Seguridad y Salud Ocupacional y los accidentes laborales en el Cuerpo de Bomberos del cantón Guaranda durante el año 2025. El estudio surge debido a la constante exposición del personal operativo a riesgos físicos, químicos, biológicos y ergonómicos durante la atención de emergencias, lo que incrementa la probabilidad de sufrir accidentes laborales que afectan su integridad física y desempeño institucional. El objetivo principal fue determinar cómo las condiciones de seguridad y el cumplimiento de normativas influyen en la ocurrencia de accidentes laborales dentro de la institución. El estudio utilizó un enfoque mixto, descriptivo y correlacional, utilizando encuestas estructuradas administradas al personal operativo del Cuerpo de Bomberos de Guaranda. Los resultados revelaron deficiencias en la formación, supervisión, aplicación de protocolos de seguridad y el uso adecuado de equipos de protección personal, todo lo cual aumenta el riesgo de accidentes laborales. También se identificó que los accidentes más frecuentes involucran caídas, golpes, quemaduras y sobreesfuerzo físico, que incluye estudios que existe un vínculo directo entre el cumplimiento de la seguridad y salud ocupacional y los accidentes laborales, subrayando la necesidad de mejorar las estrategias preventivas, fomentar las condiciones de trabajo de los bomberos. La investigación también tiene la finalidad de proporcionar información más pertinente para mejorar las condiciones de trabajo y fomentar una cultura de seguridad dedicada a la protección integral del personal de cuerpos de bomberos. | |
