| dc.description | Today, we are witnessing a profound shift in what it means to be a man. For a long time, society dictated that a father’s role was primarily to be a provider someone present physically, but often disconnected from the daily realities and emotional landscape of home life. Thankfully, that is changing. The concept of new masculinities is essentially an invitation to reclaim our humanity, and active parenting is perhaps the most powerful path to achieving that. Being an active father today goes far beyond just helping out around the house. It is about being truly present. It means recognizing that raising children isn’t a task of assisting the mother, but a shared responsibility where tenderness, play, active listening, and daily care carry as much weight as our professional lives. By embracing this role, we are breaking free from the old constraints that told us we always had to be stoic, distant, or competitive. In reality, this shift sets us free. By getting deeply involved in our children’s lives, we discover a more empathetic and sensitive side of ourselves. This new model of caregiving doesn’t just benefit our children who grow up with more present and healthy role models but it also transforms our relationships into partnerships that are far more equitable and balanced. Ultimately, active parenting is an act of courage. It is about leaving behind outdated molds to build a way of being a man that is more complete, conscious, and, above all, deeply connected to what truly matters: the love and wellbeing we nurture within our families. | |
