Resumen :	El diagnóstico de la infección por SARS-CoV-2 se basa en la detección del genoma viral (ARN) a través de técnicas de biología molecular, con el propósito de extraer el ARN total para su posterior detección mediante PCR cuantitativa en tiempo real (RT- PCR). Objetivo: Calcular la incidencia de la enfermedad denominada COVID- 19 cuyo agente causal es el virus SARS-COV-2, basándose en los datos de las pruebas moleculares RT-PCR desarrolladas por el Centro de Investigación de la Universidad Estatal de Bolívar UEB. Metodología: La investigación es de tipo aplicada, el método es cuantitativo, diseño documental y de corte transversal, la población en su totalidad es de 4713 muestras de pacientes sospechosos para COVID 19, de los cuales, analizando la base de datos del laboratorio de Biología Molecular de la UEB, se tomó en cuenta 1385 casos positivos mismos que serán considerados para la realización de este estudio. Resultados: La incidencia estadística del estudio realizado es de 0,6% sobre la población total de la Provincia Bolívar, los resultados obtenidos demuestran que los picos más altos de casos positivos fueron en noviembre con el 42% seguido por septiembre con el 38% durante el año 2020 mientras que durante el año 2021 los picos más altos se reportaron en los meses de abril con el 72% y febrero con un 53% siendo estos los datos más significativos. Conclusión: Al realizar el análisis estadístico se encontraron diferencias significativas en cuanto a la localización geográfica, grupo etario y concentración del virus respecto a la positividad. El sexo del paciente no presentó incidencia significativa en cuanto a la positividad por COVID-19. Descripción :	The diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection is based on the detection of the viral genome (RNA) through molecular biology techniques, with the purpose of extracting total RNA for subsequent detection by real-time quantitative PCR (RT-PCR). Objective: Calculate the incidence of the disease called COVID-19 whose causative agent is the SARS-COV-2 virus, based on the data of the RT-PCR molecular tests developed by the Research Center of the State University of Bolívar UEB. Methodology: The research is of an applied type, the method is quantitative, documentary and cross-sectional design, the population as a whole is 4713 samples of suspected patients for COVID 19, of which, analyzing the database of the Molecular Biology laboratory of the UEB, 1385 positive cases were taken into account, which will be considered for the realization of this study. Results: The statistical incidence of the study carried out is 0.6% of the total population of Bolívar Province, the results obtained show that the highest peaks of positive cases were in November with 42% followed by September with 38% during the year 2020 while during the year 2021 the highest peaks were reported in the months of April with 72% and February with 53%, these being the most significant data. Conclusion: When performing the statistical analysis, significant differences were found in terms of geographic location, age group and virus concentration with respect to positivity.
