Humanización del parto: percepciones de gestantes y profesionales sobre prácticas obstétricas en hospitales públicos

| dc.description | The study aimed to characterize the current state of knowledge regarding the humanization of childbirth based on the perceptions of pregnant women and healthcare professionals in public hospitals, identifying common and contradictory patterns between these two groups, as well as their implications for healthcare staff training and the design of respectful obstetric care protocols. A systematic literature review was conducted using international databases such as PubMed/MEDLINE, SciELO, Scopus, Redalyc, DOAJ, LILACS, and Google Scholar. The search included publications in Spanish, English, and Portuguese from the period 2020–2025. Of the 298 records identified, 40 articles were selected after applying eligibility criteria. The synthesis was developed using a qualitative approach focused on identifying convergences and divergences among the studies. The results reveal a gap between the normative standard and the experience of pregnant women. Although kind treatment is reported, less than 40% indicate effective respect for their preferences during childbirth. Professionals acknowledge the importance of humanization, but face institutional limitations that generate professional dissonance. Obstetric violence exceeds 46% in public hospitals, primarily affecting vulnerable women. Furthermore, dehumanized care is associated with a higher risk of postpartum depression and lower utilization of postnatal care. It is concluded that humanizing childbirth requires multidimensional interventions that integrate empathic training, organizational reforms, and culturally sensitive approaches, independently evaluating satisfaction and the objective quality of care. | |
| dc.description.abstract | El estudio tuvo como objetivo caracterizar el estado del conocimiento sobre la humanización del parto a partir de las percepciones de gestantes y profesionales de la salud en hospitales públicos, identificando patrones comunes y contradictorios entre ambos grupos, así como sus implicaciones para la formación del personal sanitario y el diseño de protocolos de atención obstétrica respetuosa. Se realizó una revisión sistemática de la literatura en bases de datos internacionales como PubMed/MEDLINE, SciELO, Scopus, Redalyc, DOAJ, LILACS y Google Académico. La búsqueda incluyó publicaciones en español, inglés y portugués del período 2020–2025. De 298 registros identificados, se seleccionaron 40 artículos tras aplicar criterios de elegibilidad. La síntesis se desarrolló mediante un enfoque cualitativo orientado a identificar convergencias y divergencias entre los estudios. Los resultados evidencian una brecha entre el estándar normativo y la experiencia de las gestantes. Aunque se reporta trato amable, menos del 40 % señala respeto efectivo a sus preferencias durante el parto. Los profesionales reconocen la humanización, pero enfrentan limitaciones institucionales que generan disonancia profesional. La violencia obstétrica supera el 46 % en hospitales públicos, afectando principalmente a mujeres vulnerables. Además, la atención deshumanizada se asocia con mayor riesgo de depresión posparto y menor uso del cuidado posnatal. Se concluye que la humanización del parto requiere intervenciones multidimensionales que integren formación empática, reformas organizacionales y enfoques culturalmente sensibles, evaluando de forma independiente la satisfacción y la calidad objetiva de la atención. | |
