Resumen : This research was conducted in the Unidad Educativa "San Pablo" located in the parish of San Andrés, Cantón Guano in Chimborazo province 2010-2011 school year and the same was attended by all students, teachers and parents of the third and fourth years of Basic Education. The purpose of this investigation is to determine whether abuse children is a factor in academic performance study population. This study was justified because it has theoretical value, utility practice, social relevance, as the child abuse the social problem which afflicts our society and at higher levels in rural areas. The study is based on attachment theory and constructivist Methodologically the research work is approached from the perspective types of cross-sectional descriptive study, with the application of a field research design where the population was composed of eighty children and seven teachers. The data collection technique was observation, a survey was also made up a questionnaire consisting for 10 closed-ended questions, data processing determining that the vast majority of households children attending the Unit Educativa "San Pablo" there is a high degree of abuse either physical or psychological by their relatives, especially parents.
