    Hospitals have been classified as a center for high-risk work by the Institute of Occupational Health in the United States by the multiplicity of risks to which workers are exposed. Particularly, the nurse is exposed to a number of risks such as exposure to infectious agents, awkward postures, lifting of loads during handling of patients, multiple shifts, exposure to chemical irritants, allergens and / or mutated gene to ionizing radiation, well known as producers of damage to the health of workers. There are areas of greatest Occupational Hazards among which include: Surgery Center because it is one of the environments in which personnel are exposed to greater risk. Emergency services, laboratory services, CSSD, Intensive Care. In this regard, the production process is determined by labor where labor requirements vary according to the types of production conditions and working environment in which the State has an obligation to ensure the health of workers. However progressive technological advancement has led to changes in conditions, activities and results of work; this in turn has led to factors of discomfort or unsuitability of the same human being, despite the undeniable progress made in terms of hygiene and biosecurity in the workplace in recent decades, hundreds of thousands of workers continue to suffer illness and injury related thereto. Occupational risk is that working conditions is likely or is likely to cause harm to health or to the production process. It is a fact of potential economic loss or injury in terms of probability of occurrence of an unwanted event. Given the importance for the above preparing this study which aims to occupational risk it is exposed to the nursing staff regarding biosafety in the area of ​​surgery of Hospital Alfredo Noboa Montenegro determined during the period considered relevant October to March 2011 hoping that the results will be useful for future students in this research, with a view to preserving the health of workers through the implementation of the various preventive measures for the various occupational risk factors in hospitals.
