    This research analyzes the concept of competition, according to different authors; the origin of skills training is also analyzed and the principles of competency-based training are established. The definitions of competition, job competition and given skills training and an assessment of the views of the concept competition is working. It is emphasized in the curriculum design areas as a way of skills training. Other studies that support the background of this work are provided by Cuban authors such as Rock (2001) makes significant contributions to the methodological development of this thesis with regard to the merits; Popa (2001) addresses the training of technicians for professional skills as a viable alternative in the Cuban context; Fernández González et al (2002) conducted an analysis of competition from the psychological point of view; Castellanos (2003) performed a comprehensive analysis of the research competence and structure of competition At the beginning of the third millennium, the world has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and technologies, together with those who are discovered, make it impossible for the man to take over all of them, so a basic education that is needed in the pillars: "learning to be, learning to do, learning to learn and learning to live together." These pillars are in correspondence with Cuban pedagogical roots, as Cuba's national hero, José Martí said: "Education is deposited in each man all the human work that has preceded him, is to make every man short of the living world, to the day living: it is put at the level of his time, to float on it, and not leave it under your time, so you can not stay afloat, is to prepare man for life ".
