Three specific objectives were proposed: 1) Diagnose the existing security at ITSU-Sucre using the Security Index for Higher Education Institutions (IS-IES), 2) Analyze the results obtained and 3) Implement the MGESES as a security reduction model. risks. The research used a descriptive and explanatory level with a qualitative-quantitative approach, combining the application of the IS-IES with direct observations and the implementation of the MGESES. The four key components were evaluated: structural, non-structural, functional and administrative security. The results show two scenarios: in Scenario 1, focused on non-structural, functional and administrative components, security reached 58%; In Scenario 2, which included structural interventions, safety increased to 72%. It is concluded that the implementation of the MGESES is effective in reducing risks, since it proposes a comprehensive approach that addresses the infrastructure, organization and preparation of the educational community, strengthening the institutional resilience of ITSU-Sucre.La presente investigación, titulada “Aplicación de la Metodología Modelo de Gestión para Emergencias del Sistema de Educación Superior del Ecuador (MGESES) para la Reducción de Riesgos de Desastres en el Instituto Tecnológico Superior Universitario Sucre de Quito, en el período mayo-agosto 2024”, tiene como objetivo principal determinar si la implementación del MGESES contribuye a reducir los riesgos de desastres en la institución. Se plantearon tres objetivos específicos: 1) Diagnosticar la seguridad existente en el ITSU-Sucre utilizando el Índice de Seguridad para Instituciones de Educación Superior (IS-IES), 2) Analizar los resultados obtenidos y 3) Implementar el MGESES como modelo de reducción de riesgos. La investigación utilizó un nivel descriptivo y explicativo con un enfoque cuali-cuantitativo, combinando la aplicación del IS-IES con observaciones directas y la implementación del MGESES. Se evaluaron los cuatro componentes clave: seguridad estructural, no estructural, funcional y administrativa. Los resultados muestran dos escenarios: en el Escenario 1, enfocado en componentes no estructurales, funcionales y administrativos, la seguridad alcanzó un 58%; En el Escenario 2, que incluyó intervenciones estructurales, la seguridad aumentó a un 72%. Se concluye que la implementación del MGESES es efectiva para reducir los riesgos, ya que propone un enfoque integral que aborda la infraestructura, la organización y la preparación de la comunidad educativa, fortaleciendo la resiliencia institucional del ITSU-Sucre.esThesis
