Abstract
Description
The genus of plants Polylepis represents great diversity in South America, and
contributes to reducing erosion, serves as shelter and feeding for many species, is a
source of water recharge and carbon captures. Being in restricted areas, it has
reduced sexual reproduction, consequently, it is in danger of extinction. Due to this
reduction of sexual reproduction, is important to carry out research processes
through in vitro culture. This research was carried out in the Laboratory of
Biotechnology of the Laguacoto Campus. The objectives were to measure the main
effect of two species of Polylepis (P. reticulata and incana), three types of
hormones (Benzyl Adenine, Benzyl Amino Purine and Kinetin) with four doses (1;
3; 5 and 7 mg/l) and interactions. The Completely Randomized Design was applied
with 24 treatments and three repetitions. The main explant variables were evaluated
at 90 days. Analysis of variance, Tukey's test, polynomial trends, correlation and
regression were performed. The most important effect was the varietal, presenting
greater health and higher averages the Polylepis reticulata. The effect of hormone
types and doses partially affected some variables, but were not consistent.
Significant factor dependence was measured. The component that reduced the
length of the shoot (dependent variable), was days to the emission of the root and
those that contributed positively were the number and length of the root. Finally,
this research allowed to select promising technological alternatives for the asexual
reproduction of Polylepis in vitro such as the species Polylepis reticulata with the
hormone Kinetina in doses of 1 and 3 mg/l, which contributed to obtain seedlings
of higher quality in terms of health and length of the outshoot.
