Resumen : Introducción: La siguiente investigación cualitativa estuvo centrada en los relatos dados por las parteras sobre sus vivencias en las diferentes situaciones y experiencias al asistir a partos en casa de las parturientas, entendiéndose en casa fuera de un centro hospitalario. Las parteras tradicionales son generalmente mujeres que han crecido presenciando los partos asistidos por sus madres o abuelas como parte de formación como futuras parteras, a medida que van creciendo van adquiriendo los conocimientos y costumbres ancestrales que han ido pasando de una generación a otra. Método: Para obtener la información necesaria para este caso se procedió a realizar una entrevista de profundidad a diez parteras tradicionales de diferentes comunidades del cantón Guaranda y San José de Chimbo, provincia Bolívar. Resultados: los resultados fueron analizados utilizando el software 8.3 Atlas Ti, arrojando que la mayoría de las mujeres atendidas preferían dar a luz en sus casa que en los Centros hospitalarios porque se sentían más cómodas y mejor atendidas de acuerdo a sus costumbres y creencias, además expresaron según las parteras, que preferían parir arrodilladas que acostadas, pues sentían menos dolor y el parto era más rápido, con relación a la atención suministrada al niño recién nacido manifestaron que prestan atención al llanto del niño al nacer, la respiración, el color, la piel, la limpieza y el abrigo utilizando la técnica de Maito. Posterior al alumbramiento, las parteras indicaron que verifican la expulsión de la placenta, el nivel de sangrado y limpieza del área, luego proceden al amarre de la barriga, los cuatro días siguientes al parto las visitan, miden su temperatura y verifican la higiene y por último al cuarto día hacen el encaderamiento. Conclusión: Las mujeres de la provincia Bolívar prefieren al momento de dar a luz a sus hijos hacerlo con parteras tradicionales que conocen sus costumbres ancestrales y son más cercanas a ellas. Descripción : Introduction: The following qualitative research was focused on the stories given by the midwives about their experiences in the different situations and experiences when attending births at the parturients, understanding each other at home outside a hospital center. Traditional midwives are generally women who have grown up witnessing births attended by their mothers or grandmothers as part of training as future midwives, as they grow older they acquire the ancestral knowledge and customs that have been passed from one generation to another. Method: To obtain the necessary information for this case, an in-depth interview was carried out with ten traditional midwives from different communities in the canton of Guaranda and San José de Chimbo, Bolívar province. Results: the results were analyzed using the 8.3 Atlas Ti software, showing that the majority of the women attended preferred to give birth at home than in the Hospital Centers because they felt more comfortable and better cared for according to their customs and beliefs, in addition According to the midwives, they expressed that they preferred to give birth on their knees than lying down, since they felt less pain and delivery was faster. In relation to the care provided to the newborn child, they stated that they pay attention to the child's cry at birth, breathing, color, the skin, the cleaning and the coat using the Maito technique. After delivery, the midwives indicated that they verify the expulsion of the placenta, the level of bleeding and cleanliness of the area, then proceed to tie the belly, the four days after delivery visit them, measure their temperature and verify hygiene and by Last to the fourth day they do the chaining. Conclusion: The women of the Bolívar province prefer when giving birth to their children to do it with traditional midwives who know their ancestral customs and are closer to them.
